Danxia landform is a collective name for extraordinary geomorphic features, like mensae, abrupt peaks, sheer cliffs, rock caves and rock columns made up of huge thick red sandstone and conglomerate, which were formed mainly by fluvial processes. Danxia landforms are usually found in red terrestrial facies strata of horizontal or gently inclined attitude developed between the Jurassic and Paleogene. Form characteristics include a flat top, steep slope and gentle foothills.
