In order to implement the "Opinions of the CPC Central Committee on Comprehensively Strengthening the Work of the Young Pioneers in the New Era" and the "Implementation Opinions of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region on Comprehensively Strengthening the Work of the Young Pioneers in the New Era", effectively strengthen the construction of the position of the Young Pioneers outside the school activities of our league, and enrich the off-campus practical activities of the Young Pioneers of the All-Union League, the Youth League Committee, the Propaganda Department of the League Committee, the Civilization Office of the League, the Education and Sports Bureau, the Bureau of Culture, Tourism, Radio, Film and Television, the Bureau of Veterans' Affairs, the Women's Federation, the Association for Science and Technology, and the Young Pioneers Committee jointly carried out the application and selection of the first batch of Young Pioneers off-campus practical education bases of the Alax League.  Through the declaration of the Young Pioneers Working Committee, the District Youth League Working Committee and the units of the league directly, after review, the Alxa Desert UNESCO Global Geopark was selected into the list of the first batch of Young Pioneers off-campus practical education bases of the Alax League.

Alxa Desert UNESCO Global Geopark is located in the westernmost part of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.  There are 3 deserts: Badain Jaran, Tengger, Ulan Buh (collectively known as the Alxa Desert).  The geopark focuses on the protection and conservation, research and appropriate development and utilization of desert geological heritages, integrates others such as canyons, wind-eroded landforms and other natural landscapes, cultural and historical landscapes, establishes a comprehensive geopark integrating geo-heirtage protection, scientific research, exploration, tourism and popular science education.  It is currently the only desert global geopark in the world.

There are currently 3 popular science venues operating in the geopark open free all year round, namely the Alxa Desert UNESCO Global Geopark Museum, the Tengger Exhibition Hall and the Juyan Exhibition Hall.  The total area is 3,543 square meters and an exhibition area of 2,700 square meters, there are more than 100 sets (pieces) of representative exhibits such as landforms, topographic sand tables, geological ore specimens, dinosaur fossils and plants and animal specimens in display.  

There are also relatively complete workstations, advanced monitoring and scientific research equipment in the geopark, it has the qualifications and ability to carry out field observation, specimen collection, geological exploration, geoscience summer camp, winter camp and other popular science practical activities.

The selection of Alxa Desert UGGp as the off-campus practical education base of the Young Pioneers of the Alax League will play a positive role in promoting young people's understanding Alxa, strengthening children's political enlightenment and value shaping, improving the influence of Alxa Desert UGGp, and promoting the sustainable and healthy development of local economy, society and ecological environment.
