In order to further improve the management and geological heritage protection and conservation and promotional work of the Alxa Desert UGGp, and to strengthen exchanges between sister-geoparks, a working delegation from the Alxa Desert UGGp visited the Funiushan UGGp and Shennongjia UGGp from July 2nd to 7th, for the purpose of observation, learning, and exchange.
In Funiushan UGGp, Henan Province, the delegation followed the geopark route of the geopark, visiting the Neixiang, Xixia, and Luanchuan in turn. They thoroughly inquired about the approaches and experiences of Funiushan UGGP in geoaprk development and management, visibility, and promotional efforts.
Both parties engaged in in-depth discussions on how to adhere to the concept that "Lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets.", leveraging their unique natural geological heritage, to better safeguard, restore, and sustainably utilize natural geological heritage. They also explored how to harmonize the relationships between geological heritage protection, research, and tourism development. Furthermore, they discussed how to transform geoparks into shared green spaces for the public and into demonstration windows for ecological civilization construction.
In the Shennongjia National Park in Hubei province, the delegation conducted on-site visits of the Shennongjia National Park's Smart Management Center, the Jade Emperor Peak, the Rhinopithecus (Golden Monkey) Research Base, the Yeren Valley, and the Natural Education Base. They gained insights into the operational management of Shennongjia's smart management system, scientific research, conservation management, forest ecosystem construction, and wetland protection, among other aspects of work.
Both parties engaged in in-depth and meticulous discussions on information technology development, scientific research and popular science education, resource management, natural education, and community co-construction, exchanging ideas on how to effectively utilize these areas for ecological conservation and environmental education.
The team, through learning and discussion, gained a deep understanding of the advanced experience and concepts of sister-geoparks in geological heritage protection, science popularization research, natural education, cooperation and exchange, and promotion. This strengthened cooperation and exchange between the two sides in geological heritage protection and tourism promotion, enhanced the relationship between sister-geoparks, and laid a solid foundation for the comprehensive promotion of various aspects of the Alxa Desert UGGp.
