From March 25 to 28, Alxa Desert UNESCO Global Geopark participated in the 2nd Longyan Sister Geopark Exchange Camp & UGGp 10th Anniversary in Fujian’s Longyan Global Geopark. The event, themed Protecting Natural Heritage, Building a Green Future,focused on biodiversity conservation and sustainable development among Global Geoparks.
During the event, experts and representatives from 12 Chinese Geoparks, including Danxiashan, Ningde, and Zhangye, shared their conservation practices. Dr. Sun Wenyan from the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences discussed the link between geological heritage and biodiversity in geoparks. Alxa’s team presented Biodiversity Conservation in Alxa Desert Global Geopark, showcasing its unique landscapes, wildlife, and conservation achievements. Alxa Desert Geopark also gifted educational books to Longyan Geopark, agreeing to strengthen cooperation and establish a sister-park partnership.Participants visited Longyan’s key sites, such as the China Tiger Museum and the Hongdoushan Ecological Park, learning about its biodiversity efforts, eco-tourism, and community-based projects.
In the future, Alxa Desert Global Geopark plans to enhance biodiversity protection, collaborate with sister Geoparks, promoting local Industry to support sustainable development and natural heritage conservation.
