Tonghu Lake of ADUGGp adopts new development mode of " Geopark + cooperatives + individual farmer and herdsman", which integrates desert tourism with local production units, involving indigenous farmers and herdsmen participate in desert tourism, geopark construction development, and helping them to improve their income.

This new tourism mode which allows farmers and herdsmen to participate in the tourism operation and construction.  The farmers and herdsmen could cooperate with tourism enterprises by operating camel riding business, catering for visitors, providing farm-stay, producing local characteristic dairy products etc..  The annual income of each household is about 67,000 RMB, with the highest of more than 300,000 RMB.  Half of the farmers and herdsmen operate tourism projects locally.  All of these are the best examples of implementation of tourism poverty alleviation projects in Alxa DUGGp
