The project about paleontological fossil excavation and evaluation rescue, carried out by Alxa Desert UGGp with Geological Environmental Monitoring Institute of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, has got initial achievement after almost a year of fieldwork.

Dozens of paleontological fossils have been collected and were initial identified belong to the ornithosaurus skeleton of Cretaceous Period. Meanwhile, the dinosaur egg fossils were found firstly at Hanura Sumu.

Since the 1960s, experts and research teams of paleontological fossils at home and abroad have been researching and achieving fruitful results on stratigraphic paleontology in Alxa.

The main palevertebrate fossil sites are located in Uligi, Suhongtu, Hanwula of Alxa Zuoqi, Tamusu Gbragg of Alxa Youqi, Mazongshan of Ejin in ADUGGp territory.

The fossils of vertebrate paleontology discovered mainly include girantylus, protoceratops, Gobi Barkosaurus, Parrot-beaked dragon, Hadrosaur, Bendiocaridae , and turtle fossils .

Investigation shows that in ADUGGp, there was rich of cretaceous vertebrate fossils.  The investigation and research help us to understand  the rule of fossils location and distribution, providing the valuable experience for further fossil record investigation and excavations, as well as the fossil conservation, geological research and popularize knowledge .
