New Discovery of Rock Painting Sites in ADUGGp

The newly discovered rock paintings are located in Alxa Zuoqi mountain area, and listed as new heritage sites in ADUGGp.

In these rock paintings, the shapes of argali and blue sheep can be easily tell, moreover, there are shapes of hunting man on horse and herdsmen etc..These rock paintings are very exquisite and vivid, with human faces and animal patterns in the majority. Most of the rock paintings are carved by grinding, with the characteristics of regional distribution. One of the paintings of "camel rider" is exquisite and vivid, which is representative local culture.  Another interesting painting is a warrior in a hat was carrying a huge wolf in both hands. The wolf's mouth was half open, which showed that the wolf was dead.

By now, there are over 250 rock paintings found, and it is estimated will be more.  The specific dating of the paintings need further research.  These rock paintings are of great academic value, which is of great significance for the comprehensive and systematic study of rock paintings in Alxa, especially for the study of northern nomadic tribal culture and the popular science research of human history and culture in Alxa Desert UNESCO Global Geopark.
