Alxa Desert UGGp hosted a study-research program for students of Alxa Youqi Mongolian-Chinese Secondary School, there were total of 217 students and teachers attend the activities.   The program this time was carried out in Zhangye UGGp, where the city of Zhangye is an significant city on the silk road, as well as in the war annals of the Chinese red army.    

The teenagers have visited Zhangye Wetland Museum, understand the basics of wetland, and its role of preventing desertification.  Then they visited the famous “Colorful Danxia” in Zhangye UGGp, learnt the geological causes of such beautiful landscape.  Everyone is amazed by the scenery and realized it is our responsibilities to cherish and save the earth resources.  At the evening party after dinner, the students watched geopark documentary films, and held on a school-talent show.

The next day, students and teachers went to the Chinese Red Army Memorial Square to express deep respect and memory to those soldiers lost their lives during the war-time, to respect history and prospect a peace future.  In the afternoon, a cultural experiences was held, everyone tried several traditional Chinese technology of production,such as movable-type printing, sachet production, Luban Lock and Cuju(ancient football)

The teenagers were happy to be a part of this program, not only it was a learning with fun activities, but also to know more about geopark that is different with theirs.
