On May 13, in order to gain a deeper understanding of Alxa’s mother mountain, Helan Mountain, and protect the wild life and ecological environment, Alxa Desert UNESCO Global Geopark Administration performed responsibilities of the newly set up Nature Reserve, Wildlife and Wetland Conservation Center and the upcoming “World Wildlife Protection Day”, organized all geopark administration staff to go into Helan Mountain National Nature Reserve to carry out the research and science activities of exploring Helan Mountain.

At Lingwan Conservation Station of Helan Mountain National Nature Reserve, to learn about the working and living environment of forest rangers. Sun Ping, the former deputy director of Helan Mountain Administration, was invited to join the group and gave a vivid lesson on ecological protection with his professional knowledge and rich working experience.  The special geographical location, climate characteristics, ecological significance and wild life of Helan Mountain, as well as the management of the reserve and the efforts and achievements of the local people to protect the ecological environment were introduced to the geopark staff.

This activity not only gave the participants a deeper understanding and knowledge reserve of the geography, climate and species of Helan Mountain, but also enhanced everyone's awareness of protecting the ecological environment, and made positive exploration for promoting educational excursions in geopark.
