On November 2,sponsored by China University of Geosciences, Beijing (CUGB), undertaken by the Natural Culture Research Institute of CUGB and assisted by the Alxa Desert UNESCO Global Geopark Administration, the 2nd High-end forum on natural culture and the "China Geoparks Development Report" release conference kicked off in Beijing.Guided by the principles laid down at the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC)and by XI Jinping’sthought on ecological civilization, the forum was held, at both main venue and sub-venues, with online participants. The theme is "creating a new culture of harmonious coexistence between man and nature". The meeting at the Alxa sub-venue was chaired by Mr.HUANG Tianbing, director of the Alxa Desert UNESCO Global Geopark Administration. The geopark administration branches at different Banners attended the meeting via video link.

In the forum, Alxa Desert UNESCO Global Geopark gave a keynote report titled "practice the green mission and promote the high-quality development of the geopark". The report has three aspects: preservation of geoheritages, development of sand industry and new energy, and promote geo-cultural tourism.It also summarizes the achievements of the geopark in popularization of science, scientific research, geoheritage conservation and protection, building a geoscience tourism platform since the establishment of the geopark.In the future, the management team of geopark will firmly grasp the opportunity; keeping in mind the purpose, comprehensively promote the preservation and capacity building of the geoparkto high standards and strict requirements; keep up with the development of global geoparks; actively explore sustainable development paths;advancethe development of tourism, sand industry and new energy construction by tapping resource advantages in the geopark.  Putting equal emphasis on protection and development, it is hoped that the geopark can make greater contributions to the construction of beautiful Alxa, and to the transformation of the brand advantages of the geopark into economic advantages.

An appointment ceremony was held in the meeting, Mr. HUANG Tianbing was appointed as a senior researcher by the Natural Culture Research Institute of CUGB.

By assisting in holding the forum, Alxa Desert UNESCO Global Geopark studied and practiced the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress andXI Jinping’sthought on ecological civilization.It has effectively transformed the research results of many years into the vivid practice of harmonious coexistence between man and nature.This forum will surely promote the geopark to open a new situation and step up to a new level in the natural culture work.
