The 8th Asia-Pacific Geoparks Symposium took place from September 11–15, 2024, at the Non Nuoc Cao Bang UNESCO Global Geopark in Vietnam. The event was attended by prominent figures, including UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Natural Sciences Lidia Brito, Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh, and Global Geoparks Network President Nickolas Zouros, among others. Over 486 participants from more than ten Asia-Pacific countries gathered under the theme "Local/Indigenous Communities and Sustainable Development in Geoparks."

To enhance the development and management of the Alxa Desert UNESCO Global Geopark, a two-member delegation from its administration attended the conference. The discussions covered key topics such as heritage conservation, geoparks' role in sustainable development, and climate change adaptation.

With support from Professor Tian Mingzhong and his team from China University of Geosciences (Beijing), as well as colleagues from Hexigten and Arxan UNESCO Global Geoparks, the Alxa Desert Geopark successfully set up an exhibition booth. Through well-designed displays, informative materials, and creative cultural products, the booth highlighted the unique features of the world's largest geopark, boosting its global visibility and recognition.

This participation not only strengthened international connections but also laid a solid foundation for the future high-quality development of the Alxa Desert UNESCO Global Geopark.
