From April 14-19, 2025, personnel from Alxa Desert Global Geopark Administration participated in a national training program on nature reserve construction and management in Shanghai. Organized by the National Forestry and Grassland Administration's Management Training Academy, the event brought together over 280 professionals from protected areas across China.
The comprehensive training featured expert instructors from various institutions, including the Chinese Academy of Environmental Sciences and Beijing Forestry University. Through lectures, case studies, and field exercises, participants gained practical knowledge in:policy interpretation and current challenges in protected area management,scientific planning and boundary demarcation techniques,ecological monitoring methods and technologies,conservation effectiveness evaluation systems,strategies for public environmental education.
This capacity-building initiative equips Alxa's staff with updated skills to enhance the Geopark's conservation efforts, scientific research, and community engagement programs, ultimately strengthening its role in sustainable ecosystem protection
