New Discovery of Rock Painting in Tengger of Alxa DUGGp

Over 200 rock painting, distributed in 4 sites were discovered in Tengger, Alxa DUGGp.

There are paintings of sheep, horse, cattle, camel, tiger, deer and other animals, as well as human faces, witches, dancers, riders, shooting and so on.  A well preserved early human settlement site (Shiwei site) was also found in one of the sites.

The production techniques of the rock paintings here include chiseling and grinding.  It represented typical art works of nomadic people in the northern China.

It further enriches the connotation of rock paintings at the west foot of Helan Mountain in Alxa, and has high research value on history, culture and art.  It is also of great significance to the popular science research of humanities, history and culture in Alxa Desert UNESCO Global Geopark.
