On August 27th, 2020, Administration for Alxa Desert UNESCO Global Geopark has invited geopark expert, Prof. TIAN Mingzhong, from China University of Geosciences (Beijing)giving a lecture on “Natural Heritage and Geopark Construction” to staff from Alxa Forestry and Grassland Bureau, Alxa Desert UNESCO Global Geopark, Alxa Zuoqi, Helan Mountain administration departments, total over 130 audience.
Prof. TIAN has introduced the geopark construction history and current status in China, although there are many national titled and global titled geoparks in China, it is important to conserve and preserve geoheritage via effective methods. One of which is to mobilize the strength of the whole community to rationally and scientifically develop and utilize geological heritage resources. In Alxa, it should be combining geopark operation with local economy development, and promoting the development of tourism through geopark, then the geological heritage resources will become a new growth point of local economic development. Meanwhile, it is necessary to protect the geoheritage.
The lecture does not only have a strong guiding significance for the construction and development of ADUGGp, but also improves the further understanding of UGGp concepts within administrators of forestry and grassland system in Alxa league, increasing their geopark management capabilities.
