On 29 December 2024, the fourth annual "New Year Fun Run: Celebrating Global Geopark Dreams" took place at Alxa Ecological Park, with more than 30 running enthusiasts from the Alxa League Forestry and Grassland Bureau participating. The event featured separate men’s and women’s races along a 3.5 km route, with winners receiving awards across three categories, along with participation prizes for all runners.

Jointly organised by the Alxa Desert Global Geopark Administration and the Alxa League Forestry and Grassland Bureau, the run aimed to harness the Geopark’s prestige to advance its "Geopark + Outdoor Sports" initiative. This effort supports the development of high-quality outdoor adventure and educational travel experiences, catering to diverse fitness interests while boosting sustainable tourism in the region.
