The Badain Jaran Desert Geological Heritage Survey and Evaluation Project, a collaborative effort between Alxa Desert UNESCO Global Geopark Administration and Di Da Ka Nuo Technology Co., Ltd., has successfully concluded its three-year research initiative following a formal expert review in Bayanhot. Post-review activities included an extensive supplementary field investigation conducted by Geopark administrators and researchers alongside Professor Tian Mingzhong's distinguished team from China University of Geosciences (Beijing).
The team examined several critical geological and archaeological sites:The unique volcanic crater and surrounding landforms in Engger Usu Gacha, Tamusu Bulag Sumu etc.,Utilizing advanced equipment and rigorous scientific methodologies, the research team:
• Conducted comprehensive stratigraphic, lithologic and tectonic analyses
• Collected and catalogued 20+ geological specimens for laboratory study
• Documented numerous newly discovered Neolithic artifacts
• Mapped precise distribution patterns of archaeological remains
This landmark project exemplifies the value of meticulous field research, demonstrating how professional dedication to geological studies yields both academic advancement and practical benefits for UNESCO Global Geopark management. The findings significantly contribute to the site's ongoing conservation efforts, educational programming, and sustainable tourism development, while reinforcing Alxa's status as a world-class geological heritage destination.
