To prepare for the 2025 UNESCO revalidation of Alxa Desert UNESCO Global Geopark, the Geopark administration, along with the management teams of its various zones and technical support experts from China University of Geosciences (Beijing), conducted an on-site inspection from August 21 to 25. The team assessed key geo-sites in the Badain Jaran and Juyan, as well as facilities such as the geopark museum, signage systems, wildlife rescue stations, bird monitoring stations, schools, local communities, hotels, camel industry sites, and rural tourism spots.  

During the inspection, experts identified areas for improvement and provided targeted suggestions. Additionally, Professor Sun Hongyan from China University of Geosciences (Beijing) conducted training on evaluation requirements, report preparation, and data collection.  

This preparatory work marks a solid step toward the 2025 evaluation, demonstrating the administration’s strong commitment. Moving forward, the geopark will refine its inspection routes and address any shortcomings to ensure a successful assessment.
