From December 18-21, the 5th Geotourism Conference & 2024 Protected Areas Science Interpretation Forum was held in Shaoguan city, Guangdong. Co-hosted by the China Tourism Association Geotourism Branch, Danxiashan Global Geopark, and Shaoguan University, the event gathered over 230 experts in geology, ecotourism, and protected area management from across the globe.

At the conference, Alxa Desert UNESCO Global Geopark demonstrated its leadership in geopark evaluation and sustainable development through multiple engagements. First, it hosted the "UNESCO Global Geopark Evaluation and Sustainable Development" sub-forum, delivering a keynote presentation on evaluation experience and best practices of Hantangang Global Geopark of Korean. Second, the Geopark curated an impressive cultural exhibition showcasing unique Alxa-themed products and educational materials. Third, as a rare dual-designated site (both UNESCO Global Geopark and World Natural Heritage), it shared insights on revalidation preparation and heritage nomination processes while exploring future collaboration opportunities.

Beyond highlighting its achievements, Alxa forged valuable connections with global peers, laying solid groundwork for future initiatives. Moving forward, the Geopark remains committed to science-based management and sustainable development, working to preserve its spectacular landscapes while fostering harmony between people and nature.
