During the 2025 "Bird Love Week," the Alxa League Forestry and Grassland Bureau, together with the Alxa Desert UNESCO Global Geopark Administration, the Inner Mongolia Helan Mountain National Nature Reserve Administration, the Alxa Left Banner Geopark Management Office, and the Alxa Bird Conservation Association, launched the 44th annual bird protection activity at Bayanhot Town’s New Century Plaza.
This year’s theme, "Remove Traps, Strengthen Laws, Let Birds Fly Free,"aimed to enhance public awareness of bird and habitat conservation, crack down on illegal wildlife trade, and encourage community involvement in protecting avian species.
The Alxa Desert Geopark Administration organized an engaging outreach effort, setting up 15 educational displays, hanging banners, distributing informational materials, and hosting interactive activities like bird-themed puzzle games. The activity also highlighted China’s Wildlife Protection Law, emphasizing the fight against illegal hunting and trading of wild birds.
Deputy Director Tuositei of the Geopark Administration spoke with local media, outlining current bird conservation efforts, monitoring programs, and future plans for habitat protection and public education.
In recent years, initiatives like the 2024–2025 Alxa Waterbird Synchronized Monitoring Project have helped safeguard avian habitats and migration routes. Monitoring has recorded 362 bird species(including 21 nationally protected Class I species and 58 Class II species ).
The activity strengthened public awareness of wildlife protection laws and ecological responsibility, fostering a community-wide commitment to biodiversity and safer environments for birds.
