With the participation of Alxa Academy of Forestry Resistance Desertification, Alxa Desert UNESCO Global Geopark successfully launched the research project about “the formation mechanism and safety guarantee system of the fragile environment in Badain Jaran Desert”.

The project is subject on revealing the formation mechanism of the fragile environment in the Badain Jaran Desert by quantitative evaluation the fragile environment security status of the Badain Jaran Desert, clarifying the formation process of desert lakes and mega-dunes. 

The project aims to build a sustainable development status and safety guarantee system for the fragile environment of Badain Jaran Desert by integrating theoretical innovation, technological innovation, and comprehensive integrated technical innovation systems, such as the restoration of degraded desert vegetation, ecological windbreak, sand fixation, and development mode of ecotourism in the fragile desert environment.

Jaran Desert is represented of the fragile ecological environment in Alxa.  The achievements of this project will further enrich the technical capabilities of the ecological civilization construction in the region, will positively guide the protection and development progress of Alxa Desert UNESCO Global Geopark, will provide technical references for resources protection and sustainable development in similar regions in China.
