On May 11, the 1st Desert Cistanche Cultural Festival and Desert Cistanche Competition opened in Alxa Desert UNESCO Global Geopark. More than 30 enterprises, cooperatives, farmers and herdsmen from all over Alxa League brought 120 desert cistanche to compete.
A series of activities is organized in the festival, such as inviting experts to teach the knowledge of desert plantation to farmers and herdsmen,visitors to the festival could enjoy the sight of desert cistanche flowers, experience planting and digging desert cistanche, and browsing in the sand industry products expo. In total of 13 enterprises showed more than 130 kinds of desert animal and plant products during the festival. The local farmers and herdsmen were very confident on developing sand industry in the ADUGGp.
