Tonghu of Alxa Desert UNESCO Global Geopark Showing Brilliant Future by Win-win Mode-------The Cooperation between Inhabitants and Geopark

Tonghu, is a unique and typical wetland in Alxa Desert UNESCO Global Geopark.  It located in the Alxa Zuoqi, Inner Monglia, China.  Surrounding by sand dunes, there are grassland, salt lake, sand springs.  This is a place with a mix culture of ancient silk road culture, Mongolian Yuan Dynasty culture, grazing and farming culture, with Mongolian, Hui and Han ethnic groups have been living here.

Tonghu, also known as " The desert paradise", is the ideal place to carry out Eco-tourism construction in ADUGGp recent years, particular for its superior geopgraphical location, resources and convenient transportation etc,.  

Tonghu, as a geoheritage site in ADUGGP, has become a leading role in promoting development of local tourism industry from a little-know place.  The rare desert wetland geological heritages, rich Mongolian ethical culture, unique human history and beautiful natural ecological landscape in Tonghu is not only important place for the public to carry out geological tourism, desert exploration tourism, leisure and holiday entertainment, and natural ecological tourism in Western Inner Mongolian, but also important place to study the causes and evolution of desert wetland and an ideal place for desertification control

In recent years, Tonghu has focused more on the tourism service quality, starts from digging cultural connotation, beautifying surrounding environment, enriching entertainment facilities and innovating new development mode of eco-tourism.  Actively encourage and help local herdsmen and farmers to participate or operate tourism enterprises, providing over 200 job opportunities with a much more stable income.  These herdsmen and farmers consciously take on the responsibilities of protection of local geoheritages, which greatly improves the enthusiasm and the sense of ownership, and effectively drives the surrounding indigenous people to switch jobs and increase their income
